Notes
The
article should be sent to
melilah@manchester.ac.uk as a
Word document (either PC or Mac).
See the
House Style below.
Hebrew
For single
terms and short phrases, contributors are requested to use
non-technical/phonetic transliterations followed by Hebrew in
brackets. Larger passages of Hebrew are permissible, but
please use hard carriage returns at the end of each line,
since we will not initially be using right-to-left word wrap.
Fonts
If the article
is already written and you have only one Hebrew font
available, please send the article directly to us in Word
format.
If you have
available more than one interchangeable Hebrew font (i.e.
Hebrew fonts which you can simply block and 'convert' to each
other), please let us know which ones you have, and we will
specify our preference.
In general, our
preferential Hebrew font is
SPTIBERIAN (PC version) or
SPTIBERIAN (Mac version). For
further information, including keyboard / character
correlations, see the
README file and the
instructions for installing a font.

AUTHOR
DETAILS
Name of your department and institution, for inclusion in the
first footnote. If you wish, please add also your position and
full mailing address: the latter is requested by indexing
services, and will assist those interested in your work in
contacting you.
ABSTRACTS
Please also send as soon as possible (in advance of the
article itself, if necessary) an abstract of your article, to
be published on the website. Add your mailing address (if you
are willing to have it published) to the end of the abstract.
Typographical Conventions
(a) Any initial
bibliographical information about the article should be in an
initial footnote indicated by a * (not 1), attached to the
article title; the name of the author should be followed by a
footnote with Author Details (as above), indicated by a ** (
or * if there is no footnote of bibliographical information;
in any event, not 1).
(b) Footnote
markers come after, not before, commas and periods.
(c) Two spaces
after periods, one after all other punctuation marks.
(d) End
quote marks come before commas and periods, unless the
quotation includes a full grammatical clause (with a verb).
(e) Every
footnote should commence with a tab between footnote number
and the beginning of the footnote text and should conclude
with a period.
