Title: 'A LIGHT UNTO THE NATIONS?'.
Abstract: of rational, hReligious practice
in general is often an interplay of different, even contradictory, elements:intellectual,
legal, philosophical, mystical, folklorist, symbolic, superstitious, magical
etc.. The boundaries between these elements cannot always be drawn sharply,
since ritual and its symbols function on many levels at the same time. The
talk will try to illustrate how sometimes the most obscure and bizarre Jewish
ritual can contain a wealth
The Speaker: Jeremy was born in London
and educated at Leeds and Manchester Universities, from where he has a BA
in History and an M Ed specifically designed for Jewish educators. He is
also a qualified teacher and has taught in Jewish primary schools. He is
presently Education Officer at the Jewish Museum.
