Course Aims: This research-led course unit examines, through the study of original Hebrew texts, the literary formats, topics, and hermeneutic methods of rabbinic Bible interpretation, in particular in the earlier period (Mishnah and Bereshit Rabba). Classes are devoted to the reading of original texts, punctuated by short lectures on specific topics; regular text preparation in advance is necessary.
