Title: 'A STRANGER IN YOUR LAND'.
Abstract: Who is the stranger? What is
your land? In this interactive session we will explore the meaning of identity
in the multicultural world, and look within Jewish sources for guidance
in fulfilling our religious duty of love and care towards the 'other'.
The Speaker: Sheila is a graduate in Urban
Policy, Community and Race Relations. She lectured in Race Relations, Equal
Opportunities and General Studies at Edge Hill College of Higher Education
before working as Education Officer for the Jewish Council for Racial Equality.
With Dr. Edie Friedman, Hazel Wolfson and Shirley Murgraff, Sheila co-authored
the education pack Let's Make a Difference. This is designed to help teachers
educate primary school children about anti-racism. Although designed for
use in Jewish schools, Let's Make a Difference has also been promoted within,
and enthusiastically taken up by, secular schools as well.
