Local, National and International Jewish Educators will be joining us to help you to discover new insights into a range of topics. We have nine tracks that you can choose from, either staying on one throughout the day or dipping in and out. Arts

It's the new thing to do that has been around for centuries. Delve into Mishnah, Talmud, Bible and Midrash with top educators Dr. Alex Samely, THE WAY THE MISHNAH MOVES; Dr. Irene Lancaster, JEWISH TEXT VERSUS CHRISTIAN WORD: HOW INTERPRETATION CAN CAUSE ANTI-SEMITISM; Doreen Wachmann, REDEEMING EVE; Dr. Raphael Zarum, THE BODY OF TORAH; and Rabbi Dr. Norman Solomon, SO WHEN IS PURIM?

 

Youth

Whilst we are all agreed that there is nothing more important than our Jewish Future, the vast majority try very hard to ignore this issue. Not us ! This track will Challenge the Education System; prove there's more to Teenagers than Angst; look at Fantasy Layening and prove that Museums aren't just for old relics. Jeremy Michelson, A LIGHT UNTO THE NATIONS?; Rabbi Dani Kerbel, FANTASY LAYENING AND CHEDER 2000; Jonny Wineberg, WHY JEWISH YOUTH WORK AIN'T WORKING?; Jill Adler, TEENAGE CENTRES ­ THE NEW CHEDARIM; there will also be a Panel on the Future of Youth Work.

 

The finale of the day will be a plenary session, which will be a chance for all of us to map out a direction for future Jewish educational opportunities in the Manchester community.
