HOLOCAUST STUDIES IN THE UK

NEW! HOLOCAUST LITERATURE; AN ENCYCLOPEDIA OF WRITERS AND THEIR WORK (ROUTLEDGE 2002) NEW!

The following is an attempt to survey Holocaust Studies related degrees and course units currently on offer in the United Kingdom. It was conducted on behalf of the British Association for Jewish Studies and the Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of Manchester by Daniel Langton. Numbers of students have been given where provided by the institution. Royal Holloway, UCL and Sheffield are the only institutions currently offering an MA in Holocaust Studies. (The Parkes Institute at Southampton also offers a 'Holocaust pathway' through their MA in Jewish History and Culture). A search engine at the foot of this page is provided for ease of use. (A similar survey has also been conducted for Jewish Studies).

The majority of the information was collected during the period April - July 2001 (the most recent amendment was 5 March 2002 for the Stanley Burton Centre for Holocaust Studies). Any institution wishing to add, update or correct information relating to its courses should email info@BAJSBulletin.org.

Details of current UK Holocaust Studies related PhD thesis titles can be found on the BAJS Bulletin website
