Academy of the
Hebrew Language |
| The Academy of the
Hebrew Language prescribes standards for modern Hebrew grammar, orthography,
transliteration and punctuation based on the study of Hebrew's historical
development. The Academy has three goals: 1. To investigate and compile the
Hebrew lexicon according to its historical strata and layers. 2. The study
of the structure, history and offshoots of the Hebrew language. 3. To direct
the development of Hebrew in the light of its nature, requirements and
potential works. The Academy splits its work into three sections; the
scientific secretarial, the Historical dictionary and the computer section.
The website gives a lot of information on the Academy itself and so is not
particularly useful for general Hebrew learning. |
