Torah.org (Project Genesis)
A repository of Jewish educational material and a range of Torah activities. Includes beginner, intermediate, and advanced level articles on Jewish law and ethics as well as philosophical and social issues. Features sections on the basics of Judaism ("Judaism in a Nutshell" and the "Judaism Primer"), gender issues, prayer and religious articles, Judaism and Non-Jews, the Jewish Legal System and an audio archive.

Comments For learning Torah. It might appear to have ‘the basics’ of Judaism but these are for knowledgeable or searching Jews.

Jewish Heritage Online Magazine
A monthly online journal exploring Jewish text study, culture and heritage. Each edition focuses on a different topic with articles on biblical and talmudic literature, mysticism, modern poetry, Hebrew language, art and music. The calendar section has articles with interesting facts and stories related to the current Jewish month and its festivals. The calendar archive collects previous articles.

Comments Light weight and user friendly, but commercial magazine. Some useful snippets (e.g. references to particular words in Jewish writings, some biographies) but only of use for online dipping.

Mesora: Sources for Jewish Philosophy
Website created as a public reference and platform for discussion on topics relevant to the Jewish community and for the study and dissemination of Torah ideals. It contains articles on Torah philosophy, theology, critiques of other religious beliefs, a listing of false beliefs, Noachide philosophy, learning methods for studying the Torah, daily updates on Social and Political topics concerning Israel, Mitzvah, T'Nach, and an analysis of Jewish holidays.  Also includes information on Mesora campaigns, Torah discussion forum, suggested reading lists, and an audio archive of online class lectures.

Comments That may be its heading, and simple language used, but the philosophy is not the kind a secular academic student is looking for.


 
Sermons and More
This is a very dynamic site with a lot of different things to look at. Both text, visual art and music are posted on this site. The site includes a range of discussions, liturgies, sermons and a large range of published articles such as 'Rabbinic officiation at same sex ceremonies' which is by Rabbi Joan Friedman. The site also includes a lot of articles on the 'Jewish Left'. The site publishes a yearly growing Haggadah and includes many other things such as recipes and a Hebrew date conversion utility.  Primary Sources: Sermons for Rosh ha Shannah and Yom Kippur Secondary Sources: Includes a site for mourning and condolence, a Sukkot meditation, 'How to arrange for a Brit Milah', some personal responses on the Sho'a.

The Virtual Beit Midrash Library
Archives, articles and other resources available in Hebrew and English from the library. The archive databases are divided by general subject catagories: Halakha Archives, Parsha Archives, and Course Archives which incorporates the Yeshiva Archives, course materials and Holiday journals by Roshei Yeshiva and the faculty about the holiday, in Halakha and Aggada. Primary Sources: Halaka, Parsha, Yeshiva and Course archives Secondary Sources: Full text of course materials in word format.

A site housing lists to Dafyomi web resources. Features sections on 'What is Dafyomi?' and 'What is the Talmud?', links to Siyum Hashas, Talmud study programs, Dafoyomi online, Hebrew and Hebrew fonts, Talmud and Dafyomi databases, and study resources.

Aish HaTorah
"An organizations dedicated to answering the vital question, 'Why be Jewish?" Features sections with articles on Spirituality, Family Life, Dating, Society and Work, Jewish Issues, Holocaust Studies, and Jewish Literacy. Also features information on the institutes programs in Jerusalem, Russia and those aimed at Women. Other sections contain articles on Jewish Holidays, an Ask the Rabbi feature, and Weekly Torah Portion.
